Big Carlos Pass Shorebird Monitoring

Earth Tech Environmental is conducting shorebird monitoring in response to the Big Carlos Channel Realignment project. Composed of a team of dedicated individuals with proven shorebird identification skills, ETE monitors the beach 7 days a week in search of nesting shorebirds, including Wilson’s and snowy plovers, least terns and American oystercatchers.

Phantom 4 Drone

ETE is now utilizing a DJI Phantom 4 drone to assist in a variety of tasks such as exotic vegetation mapping, bidding, property assessments, and bird counts.  The video below shows a portion of a drone flight over Eagle Lakes Park in Collier County.

Collier County Beach Renourishment

ETE is providing turbidity monitoring services for the 2016 beach renourishment project in Collier County.  The project consisted of a sand truck haul beach nourishment at 3 locations in Collier – Marco Island, Vanderbilt, & Pelican Bay.   Turbidity samples are taken every 4 hours to monitor water quality during construction.

Naples Bay Trawling

Jeremy Sterk assisted the City of Naples and Rookery Bay with a fisheries trawling event in Naples Bay.  The trawling gives a sample of marine life utilizing various portions of Naples Bay.  Some of the species observed included squid, sting rays, batfish, flounder, bristle stars, and a variety of baitfish.

Osprey Nesting Platform

ETE recently assisted the Pelican Bay Services Division (PBSD) and the Pelican Bay Foundation with installation of a new osprey nesting platform.  The new platform was placed near the north Pelican Bay boardwalk, just inside the beach dunes.  The platform will hopefully recruit a nesting pair of ospreys during the upcoming nesting season.

Submerged Resource Survey

ETE recently conducted a submerged resource survey as part of permitting for a proposed dock in Port Royal.  The SRS evaluates the dock construction area for important submerged resources such as sea grass or hard bottom (corals).  Underwater photographs of the survey area are taken to document conditions.
