  • Turbidity Monitoring

    Turbidity monitoring for dewatering permits or beach re-nourishment permits.  Turbidity is a measure of water clarity and how much the material suspended in water decreases the passage of light through the water. Suspended materials include soil particles (clay, silt, and sand), algae, plankton, microbes, and other substances.

  • Dissolved Oxygen

    Dissolved Oxygen (DO) testing in community lakes or other water bodies.  Dissolved Oxygen is a measurement of oxygen available for organisms in the water to utilize for respiration.  The following are guidelines for DO levels with respect to warm water organisms:

    • Dissolved Oxygen readings should be above 5 mg/L
    • 4-5 mg/L may cause stress in fish
    • Widespread D.O. below 2.0 mg/L can result in fish kills

    Taking DO measurements may provide indications where aerators or fountains would be beneficial in community lakes.

  • Water Level Monitoring

    ETE can monitor water levels in lakes or wetlands utilizing the latest technology in piezometers.  Water levels can be logged multiple times a day and trends graphed over time to show how water bodies react to outside influences such as rainfall or tides.

  • Nutrient Testing

    ETE can test community lakes for excessive levels of nutrients such as ammonia, nitrates, and phosphorus.  Excessive amount of these nutrients contribute to algal blooms and potential fish kills.

  • Contaminent Testing

    ETE can test community lakes for contaminants such as heavy metals (mercury, aluminum, cadmium) or other potential harmful contaminants such as pesticides, herbicides, or petroleum derivatives.
