Earth Tech Environmental (ETE) has been monitoring a pair of Bald Eagles this nesting season on a project site in Collier County. Bald Eagle nests are monitored when construction occurs near nests, especially during nesting season. ETE biologists alternate going out to the site a few times week to monitor the two adult eagles’ behavior during ongoing construction activities. The pair produced two hatchlings in mid March and the fledglings will soon hatch in May.

Here are some tips on how to observe Bald Eagles from a safe distance:

  1. View bald eagles at 330 feet distance.
  2. Stay in or near your vehicle to reduce disturbance.
  3. Use binoculars or a spotting scope to observe.
  4. Avoid making loud noises like yelling or car honking.
