Florida Master Naturalist Program
Earth Tech Environmental staff is always looking to expand its knowledge base and credentials. Some of our Ecologists recently took part in the Florida Master Naturalist Program (FMNP)- a UF/IFAS program designed to increase understanding and awareness of our local ecosystems. FMNP offers three core modules: Coastal, Freshwater and Upland. Our Ecologists fulfilled the 40-hour Freshwater module, and are well on their way to becoming certified Florida Master Naturalists!
In addition to field trips and hands-on learning experiences, topics covered in the course included species identification, types and function of wetlands, marshes and forest ecosystems, and a final group presentation of one’s choosing. A big shout out to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary for hosting and running the course, and doing a fantastic job sharing not only their beautiful facility, but their wealth of knowledge and passion for our local freshwater ecosystems!
