Weeki Wachee Eelgrass Planting
In October, ETE planted in a canal near Weeki Wachee springs off State Road 50 in Hernando County, Florida. A total of 3,000 native eelgrass (Vallisneria americana) were planted within the designated planting area by divers utilizing SCUBA. The plants were harvested near Vero Beach the previous day, then transported to the planting site the day of the planting.
