Dissolved Oxygen Sampling

ETE has extensive experience conducting water sampling within existing residential communities.  One of the most common criteria we sample for is Dissolved Oxygen (DO).  We have conducted DO studies in several communities within Southwest Florida in order to evaluate the biological health of onsite lakes.  DO readings can be useful in determining lakes that may benefit from the installation of aerators or fountains that will increase overall water circulation.  The following are general guidelines for DO levels as they relate to warm water organisms:

  • DO should be above 5 mg/L
  • DO levels of 4-5 mg/L  may cause stress in fish
  • Widespread DO below 2.0 mg/L under certain conditions can result in fish kills

Feel free to contact ETE if you have questions regarding DO or other water sampling within your community.
